She is a graduate of Moscow State University and Independent University of Moscow, with a PhD in Mathematics from Moscow State University.
Professional experience
Ms Bunina joined Yandex in 2007. She is the founder and driving force behind the Yandex School of Data Analysis, where she chairs the Computer Science Department. In addition to her roles as CEO of Yandex in Russia since 2017 and head of the company’s human resources since 2011, Ms Bunina now oversees the company’s educational projects and the Yandex Educational Initiative. From 2011, Elena Bunina is Professor of the Higher Algebra Department at Moscow State University, where she has been lecturing since 2001. She also chairs the Data Analysis department at the Phystech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Elena Bunina is Doctor of Physics and Mathematics with over 50 published articles on elementary properties of algebraic structures and mathematical logic. Elena Bunina sits on the supervisory board of the national program Data Economy Russia 2024, the supervisory board of National Research University Higher School of Economics, and is a member of the expert council of the national educational centre for gifted children 'Sirius'
